Ancient Theater of Orchomenos in Boeotia

·         The Regional Authority of Central Greece offers € 50,000 to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism through a Programmatic Agreement for the purpose of restoration and enhancement of the monument.

·         On December 19, 2011, Diazoma commissioned architect Dimitri Diamantopoulos to conduct a study for the creation of an archaeological park, which apart from the ancient theater will include the great Mycenaean Funerary monument (Treasure of Minyas) and a Byzantine church, which is a reference point of the 10th century (Our Lady of Skripous).

·         Also on December 21, 2011, a Diazoma Committee received the Topographical Study on the creation of the archaeological park, conducted by topographical engineer Mr. Nikos Artemakis.

  • On 26.03.2012 was made the call for the recruitment of scientific staff and highly skilled technicians to carry out archaeological work in the realization of the project "Excavation of ancient theater Orchomenos Boeotia."

  • On 07.19.2012 Diazoma commissioned architect Billis Themis to conduct a study of the project "Restoration of the ancient theater of Orchomenus Boeotia."

  • On 07.27.2012 the first stage of the architectural study of the archaeological park of Orchomenos Boeotia was forwarded for approval to the authorities of the Ministry of Education Sport and Culture.

  • On 10.16.2012 was approved by the Central Archaeological Council in the first stage of the study for the creation of the archaeological park.

  • Through the programmatic agreement the Local Ephorate of Antiquities commissioned architect Themis Billys to conduct the study for the project " Excavation and mapping of the ancient theater of Orchomenos Boeotia.

  • On February 20, 2013 Diazoma commissioned Mr. Artemakis George, Nick Manis, Stephen Nikolaou and Dimitris Diamantopoulos to conduct the additional studies for the creation of the archaeological park.

  • On July 10, 2013 the  architect - engineer , Mr. Themis Billis, presented to Diazoma the restoration study of the ancient theater of Orchomenos Boeotia.

  • Also the architect, Mr. Dimitris Diamantopoulos and his team presented the study for the modification of the urban design of the Orchomenos Boeotia.

  • On September 17, 2013 the restoration study of the ancient theater Orchomenos Boeotia was approved by the Central Archaeological Council.
