The project "THE ODEON OF THE GREAT THERMAΕ OF DION:
PROTECTION, CONSERVATION," of a total budget of €
828,520, was adopted by NSRF (National Strategic
Reference Framework).
·
Works for the maintenance and enhancement of the Odeon, both
inside and around the premises, began in July 2011:
1.
Fallen stones and bricks as well as dirt from the halls of
the Odeon (1-11) and along the surrounding corridor
(I-XI) were removed.
2.
The eastern and western outer staircase of the Odeon and the
area south of the Odeon have been cleaned.
3.
The maintenance of the columns of the proscenium and the
mapping of the eastern exterior wall of the Odeon
have started.
§
In August 2011, excavations began in the Odeon area. The
southern excavation revealed more and better the
halls (with rubble) that were built at a time after
the Odeon.
§
The maintenance of the four columns of the proscenium was
also completed.
§
The maintenance of the rest of the architectural members
(column bases and capitals) also started.
§
Works are still in progress.
