Ancient Theater of Amvrakia

·         For the monument’s full revelation it is necessary to complete the excavation work and make the necessary small-scale support interventions.

·         To fulfil these tasks, the theater was included in the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF) with a € 2,000,000 funding, as a subproject of the larger project "Promotion-Unification of Archaeological Sites in Ancient Amvrakia in the Town of Arta, Municipality of Arta: Western Necropolis, Apollo Temple and Small Theater."

·         Depending on the extent and type of the antiquities that will be discovered, there is a need to build a small footbridge over the ancient theater, which will provide visual contact with the ancient theater and at the same time will lead visitors to take a beautiful archaeological walk in the other monuments of ancient Amvrakia, creating thus an archaeological site, which is organically integrated in the life of the modern city.

·         Works are in progress: during the excavations a pottery furnace of the Byzantine period was revealed, which was created in the ancient theater. Near the theater was also revealed the sewer system of the ancient city.
