![]()
The theatre of Halasarna is located on the site of Agia Theotis in Kardamaina, Kos Municipality. It was built in the Hellenistic period and forms part of the architectural complex of the Sanctuary of Apollo. It belongs to the category of periurban Hellenistic theatres.
It was excavated by the Italian Archaeological Mission to the Dodecanese in 1928. According to the excavation report, the cavea is set on the natural earth, and three cunei and six rows of turf seats, forming three-fourths of the whole, are preserved. Of the stage building, only the long, low platform (pulpitum) of the Roman period survives. The monument is located in an designated non-built-up archaeological zone, but no part of the theatre is visible today.
