Description of the monument
Ancient
Thyrreion is one of the main cities of Acarnania, whose ruins are preserved in
the geographical limits of the village of Agios Vassilios, renamed Thyrreion
after the ancient city. Thyrreion is a municipal department of Aktion - Vonitsa
Municipality in the Prefecture of Aetoloacarnania. The site of the theatre has
been identified as a natural hollow near the modern archaeological museum, but
no excavation work has been carried out to date.
