The National Bank of Greece contributor to the creation of an archaeological park in Orchomenus in Boeotia PRESS RELEASE Athens, January 9, 2013 With great joy and satisfaction DIAZOMA welcomes yet another big sponsorship to the "money box" (e-bank account) for the ancient theater of Orchomenus in Boeotia: The National Bank of Greece’s sponsorship of € 30,000. This sponsorship will be used for the rewards of the scholars who prepare: A. the study for the creation of an archaeological park in Orchomenus in Boeotia, which apart from the ancient theater will also include the great Mycenaean Funerary monument (Treasury of Minyas) and a Byzantine church (Our Lady of Skripous). B. the study of the project "Restoration of the ancient theater of Orchomenus in Boeotia." Both these studies, as well as the topographic study on the creation of the archaeological park of Orchomenus in Boeotia, have already been commissioned by DIAZOMA association. On October 16, 2012 the Central Archaeological Council of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs, Culture and Sports (YPAITHPA) approved Stage A (preliminary study) of the architectural study for the archaeological park. The board of DIAZOMA cordially thanks to the National Bank of Greece for this important sponsorship, which will contribute to the creation of an archaeological park.
